I'm horrific at keeping a routine

I'm horrific at keeping a routine...

My husband's GREAT at it.

He told me his secret today:

"I do it because it feels good."

Ummm....that's it?!

2 hours later, here's what I've learned:

Most of us do things because of what we want to achieve.

"I want to lose 20 pounds...so I'll work out"

"I want to land clients...so I'll post on LinkedIn"

The goal drives the action.

My husband flipped it.

He lifts because it feels good.

BUT he knows something's off if he's not increasing weight every week.

He eats well because it feels good (not 'pleasurable').

BUT he knows something's wrong if he gets sick too often.

The results aren't the goal. They're the signal to know he's on track.

Same outcomes.

Completely different engine.

And it's working.

His abs are more defined, lifts keep going up, he rarely gets sick.

And he feels good...

Now I'm trying to define what "feeling good" means for me.

(It's easy for me to confuse 'good' with 'pleasure'...and they're not the same...)

I really admire my husband's way of showing up.

I'm constantly trying to prove I can hit the target.

He just trusts that feeling good will lead to the target.

One of us is exhausted.

The other has abs...
